I have had a plethera of problems with this program. My latest is when I try to restore a tape. The restore seems to start and then sits queued. I keep getting alerts telling me to import the media although the media is already there. I have tried running the import with the restore job queued and also before running the restore and it still tells me to import the media. I tried exporting and reimporting the media. I have run an inventory on the media after importing. It still won't work. I tried running a catalog and it listed the media as blank. Which I know it isn't. I ran another inventory this time on all media and it shows that it isn't blank. But still will not restore. The tape is from my full weekly backup of last friday and it was never removed from the library.
I had this problem before and after about 2 hours of the same messing around it finally worked. Is there something I'm missing.
Backupexec 10 on an windows 2000 server, sp4. Using an exabyte vxa2 1x10 packet loader.

Sounds like the read head is bad on the drive. This would explain why you have to run multiple inventories for the tape to show up correctly...and when you run the restore the tape is there it just can sense the tape label to run the restore and thus its telling you to import it becuase it can sense it in the library.

Update to the latest Veritas Driver, SCSI driver, etc.
Get you hardware vendor involved

Thanks for the response. The last inventory actually worked. I spoke with a guy from exyabyte a while back and he suggested getting a newer scsi card. at the time i was also getting hardware errors. i'm finding backupexec cumbersome to use. i remembering now why i dropped it years ago and wondering why i went back to it.

Well if you getting hardware error can you point the problemn to backup up exec..garbage in garbage out. Just a observation.
