Hi...
We're using Oracle 9.2.0.5.0 (32-bit) on Solaris 9 on a Sun-Fire V440 using Solaris Volume manager on cooked space (UFS) for the datafiles on a 3310 array.

Using RMAN w/Legato that comes w/9i for the backups going to a DLT 320.

My question is:
Can the OS backup (UFS-backup) and the Oracle backup (full backup, not just exports of data) go onto the same tape? Or do I need to use 2 devices?

Looking for an answer ASAP, please.

Thanx
DrD123

Dr. D,

Files are Files are Files. We put our backups (both OS and Oracle cooked files) on the same tapes.

Thanx for the response... because also working w/DB2... they have a "requirement" that their BU's goto their own device.

Thanx again,
