I'm currently running backup exec 8.6 and I'm trying to backup to a HDD. I keep getting the following error: 'The media provided to continue the backup already contains data from one or more sets created during this operation The operation cannot be continued'
Please help.

If this was backup to tape, I would tell you the tape was full, and it had no overwrite protection.

I have never seen that on a b2d but I would have to guess that it is the same thing, your bkf file(s) must fill the harddrive, the job cannot go back and overwrite itself so you get the message.

You didnt mention if there was a bunch of free space or anything so I'm just guessing.

I'd agree with Kopf--I had the error this morning on a backup tape. Now the drive it is trying to backup is only 18G full but the tape is supposed to be able to take 20G uncompressed--which isn't always true.
1. Are you using compression?
2.Which HDD are you backing upto? I once tried to backup to the drive I was backing up and really stuffed it up.....doh!

Apologies for not posting this detail earlier...
I have a 24GB partition dedicated for the backup. The data I'm backing up is only around 10GB. The bkf file that is in the backup folder following the error was only around 4GB.
The compression type I'm currently using is 'Hardware, Otherwise none'.
I'm going to try the 'Hardware, otherwise software' compression and see if that helps. But anymore tips would help a bunch, thanks guys!
