Hi There,

Here is my dilemma. We use an external Web Hosting company, who we lease a managed server off. Support, etc. has been awful, and we are looking at moving our web hosting needs elsewhere.
Before we progress with this, we want to ensure we have a reliable,up-to-date backup of all content(SQL tables, etc.) - We use BrightStor 11.5SP3 locally. This is backed up to tape locally, but we are unable to remove tapes from site.

I have setup software to backup to Disk every Sunday. I have then created an account on and copy data up over night. If I now copy all this data back down (all in CTF format), can I restore the data directly onto another server, or will I need to copy to tape first? My concern is that because the restore will not take place on original server, it will not work.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Darren.

I'd do both, first restore from the FSD and then do tapecopy so you have it on tape. After that close out the old system.
