I can't find out how to backup my system files to the repair directory in WinXP. In Win2k you could go into backup and go to tools and then select Create Emergency Repair disk and then click the also back up system files and it would make a copy of your system files to your repair directory. I am looking for this same option in WinXP. Thanks in advance.

Under Acccessories, System Tools, System Restore you should be able to create a restore point and thus backup system files.

Hope this helps

Thanks I will try that out. Have you ever had to restore in XP. Does it just give you the choice of restore point then when you are restoring?

If you have XP Home, the backup program is not installed by default but here's how to install it: Once it's installed, Start, Run, ntbackup, on the first screen select Advanced Mode. You will be able to backup the system state or create an Automated System Recovery backup. If you're doing this with XP Home, be sure to read the note in the KB article above.
