Backup starting in various slots

We use arcserve 2000 which has always worked fine.
Recently when the five tapes for the backup have been mounted and erased instead of starting in slot one the backup has been starting in various slots like two, three or four.
Does anyone have any ideas why?

ARCserve will use what tapes meet it's criteria, which means that it will take it from whatever slot it needs to. Don't see why this would cause you a problem ? After all that's what the library is there for.
