I need to backup some program/data files from a local machine (win 98) across the network to the server (win 2k server, where a daily backup is taken to a tape drive at the end of each working day.) have looked at this and the easiest solution i can see is writing a dos/bat/exe to xcopy the whole program/data folder to a mapped network drive on the server. BUT the problem i'm having is being able to xcopy across to the network drive.......

can anyone help????

Why not go the other way around? Map the drive you want to backup so that it is accessible by your backup software, then you don't need to xcopy everything everyday.
