Hi all

Our Arcserve licence is about to expire so we thought we might investigate alternatives.

Any suggestions must have remote agent support and preferably not involve Symantec.

Windows 2003 server.

Cheers.

Hi

How many clients? What is the tape hardware?

Or are you considering starting over?

Kind Regards,

We will be backing up 3-4 servers and approx 250Gb of data. We have two Dell poweredge 2600s with 200Gb LTO drives in at the moment. In future we may be moving to backing up to a NAS so this should be a concideration as well.

Cheers.

Do you use Netvault comtec17?

How does it compare on price with ARCserve?

Hi,

I work for this company named Idealstor. We provide D2D backup and storage solution. Disk to Disk Backup (D2D) was developed to speed up the process of backing up data. Rather than sending the data from disk to tape, Idealstor appliance lets you eject the disks like tape for a tape free backup solution. We have NAS appliances with ejectable disks as well.

Our Ibac Data protection software for Windows provides
continuous data protection (CDP) and backup/restore capabilities in one easy to use software package. We backup data in its native format and the GUI is user friendly.

Ibac can determine if any changes to a file or its attributes have occurred since it was last backed up
to a specific media. If modifications are detected, only the changed files or portions of a file are backed up and merged with the last full backup. So end result is always a full backup. We also do versioning.

It gives you the option to decide which servers are the most critical and whether they need continuous backup.

We also provide Quick System recovery CD for Disaster recovery purpose. Also since you backup to disk and its in native format, you can hook your disk as a secondary drive to any workstation or server to restore your data in case of any disaster. You need not wait to get a new Tape library.

We can also schedule a demo if you want to see how IBAC works and also give you some references so that you can contact our customers for reviews. For further details and to download an evaluation version, please visit our website at
I believe IBAC data protection software might be a better option for you since you are backing up Windows based servers.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Regards,
Kalpana

NetVault is superior to Arcserve. Pricing is much cheaper than Arcserve.
