I have purchased western digital's external passport hard drives 60GB for our remote sales staff. I would like for them to do daily backups and then full backups once a week. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive backup software to have the user click on a button to manually start daily backups and a button to manually start the full backups.

The hard drives do come with a sync software, but its not a true backup software. Any ideas?

You can do this using the built in backup utility and a script. You can even try my script, available here:

Note: you use scheduled tasks to run the script at a specific time so there is no user involvement other than cleaning off the drive periodically and/or changing the drive.

Thanks. Great Idea. I will look into it. Might have some questions down the road.

I used to use a software tool called Beyond Compare by Scooter Software; it’s a file comparison tool which will look for changes and sync up at the touch of a button,

Alternatively

An excellent backup to disk solution which is managed off
Site is BobtheBackup.com

Once a full backup has occurred, there is a binary mode which only backs up the file changes each night or when ever you set the automated backups.

This is an offsite solution too which you could use as disaster recovery
