Backup of Exchange 5.5 W/O Exchange agent

I need something more than an canned answer from seers on this one. Being unfamilar w/ Backup Exec I need a little help.

I dont have agent for exchange available to me for backing up my Exchange 5.5 server. All I have is the plain jane BU Exec 8.5 service. Is it possible to do a full backup of the server w/o the agent and still get a full backup?

No, it will skipp the files becuase they are in use.
You could use the OFO option, but thats another paid agent.
If you have the disk space run NTBACKUP to disk then backup the disk file to tape. Of course the restore would be two steps back. You could only do a information store backup this method.
