before you read this and think go to seer.veritas.com I've dont that but i need some clarity and generally whitepapers dont offer that :)

I dont have agent for exchange available to me for backing up my Exchange 5.5 server. All I have is the plain jane BU Exec 8.5 service. Not being familar w/ how it should be setup can someone point me to a descriptive tutorial on this? Or provide one.

Thanks

OK, wrong forum. I'll be moving it to the Backup Exec forum.

Sorry.

Oh, but you don't need BE and an Exchange Agent to backup Exchange - when you install Exchange on the server, Windows Backup gets patched to make it Exchange-aware, so you can do online backups.

Online backups are really really important for Exchange - and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. So BE without an Exchange Agent isn't going to cut it for you.

faq10-6004 is mandatory reading, BTW.

We're available for extra question after you get through with your weekend reading :)
