Hi

A backup which usually takes about 7-10mins is now taking 1 hour +. This started happening when I reinstalled Arcserve Backup because of some corrupt files. But I didnt need to reinstall the SQL agent files or any other components. Could this have caused the problem??? Should I remove and reinstall Arcserve and the Agents?

Platform: Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Arcserve Backup v11 with SQL Agent

This only happens with the SQL Backup at the moment and on a specific server.I tried the backup on a test platform (different server) which has similar amount of data and it took just +/- 6mins. With the SQL backup as soon as the backup begins it just drags and starts talking about 35mins remaining time etc.

I have installed the updates from the site.

HI,

What protocol did you have ARCserve use when backing up SQL? TCP/IP or named pipes?

Try toggling the protocol.

Cheers

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

How do I check the protocol and how do I toggle it?

Time for some SQL maintenence, run DBCC and rebuild the index.

HI

I plan to reinstall my Arcserve Backup v11 on my server including the agent of other servers, but I have to first remove the existing installtion. Is there any complication in installing it or is it just a straightforwad installtion? How many reboots are required? The servers all have MS SQL running.

Hi

I recently installed an HP Storageworks extension and ever since the backup has slowed down. I noticed a local backup running Around 350Mb/minute where as the backup with the HP Storage is running at only 49.97Mb/minute. Is there anyway we could speed this up?

Regards
