Backup Failed

On a Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 and backup failed last night. Checked all cables are connected. Here's the job log:

Tape Alerts:
Warning - The tape drive has a problem with the host interface:
1. Check the cables and cable connections.
2. Restart the operation.
Robotic Library:
Drive: QUANTUM 1
Slot:

Job Completion Status:
Job ended: Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 11:02:45 PM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0x45d - The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Final error category: Other Errors

ERRORS:
Backup - \\server\D: Storage device "QUANTUM 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.

Error reported:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Any help is appreciated.

Are there any errors in the Windows Event Viewer Logs that apply to this error?

Showing 3 errors and 1 warning. The 2 errors were showing the same info which was what the Job Completion Status above says. The other error shows these:

Adamm Mover Error: Write Failure!
Error = ERROR_IO_DEVICE
Drive = QUANTUM 1
{9B509ECF-CBD8.....}
Media='DLT0000003'
{8B52EEC3-#DB9....}
Read Mode:SingleBlock(0),ScsiPass(0)
Write Mode: SingleBlock(1),ScsiPass(1)

The warning is the same as the Tape Alert on my first post.

Right click on the MyComputer icon, select Manage, select Device Manager. Do you see a Tape Device?

Updated to the latest veritas tape drivers and check the SYSTEM log not the app log for errors.

I ran the backup again as I posted my problems here. Weird thing is it worked.

I've checked Device Manager and all the Tape Device were there.

I got the errors and warning messages on the Sys log and App.

Appreciate all the help!!!
