When trying to install Backup Exec 9.1 on a Fresh Install of Windows 2003 SBS Standard we recieved this message- The Backup Exec database you are trying to use does not match the version of this install. Schema changes have been performed on this database which do not match the executables currently being installed. Install will not be able to continue at this time.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

STF

Does SBS 2003 Standard have SQl installed on it as well?

If so make sure it is using Service Pack 3a for SQL - as I think this is what it is complaining about.

I work with STF on this. It's a Standard SBS installation so there's no SQL server. There is however MSDE for sharepoint and SBS monitoring. I'm sure this has something to do with the issue, but we're unable to get past the error. We don't want to uninstall sharepoint or the monitoring. Any other suggestions? I can't find anything remotely like this on veritas website or in the newsgroups.

Thanks
Shawn

OK, is the MSDE instance patched to SP3a?

BE will try to install a MSDE instance of it's own so this sounds like what is conflicting in the setup.
Are you telling BE to install in a new instance or the current instance of MSDE?

We finally got it to install. I had to install msde separately and create the instance separately. I then installed it to the existing instance of backupexec. I made sure it was there by doing a osql -L to see what databases were there.
