Hi all,

I'm having problems with my tape device and media being recognised under BE 9. I'm using NT Server (Sp6a), and an Onstream SC30 internal SCSI drive.

When running through the device configuration wizard, the wizard detects the device, but afterwards it displays 'Backup Exec is unable to recongnise the following device, the media type for this device will need to be specified before it can be used', I have changed this to 8mm.

When the wizard finishes and I start to use Backup Exec, I can't do anything to the blank media that is inserted (i.e. Backup, Catalog, etc.), it displays in the job monitor then terminates with the following error: - 'Invalid Physical Volume Library Argument'

Also, when looking at the devices, I'm unable to see the properties. In addition, the properties on the media have been reset to ***.

I've also tried adding the veritas device driver, but it scans the hardware and reports 'Some Hardware did not match'.

I know theres nothing wrong with the drive or media because I can use it under Windows Backup.

Please Help!

You should not use the Veritas Device Driver for this drive. Here is what Veritas states:

O- OEM driver tested (or tests audited) by VERITAS Software. Driver available from OEM. IDR not supported.

X- The device is not a library.

Vendor Model Drive Media Interface Library Support
OnStream SC30 OnStream SC30 8mm SCSI X O

You can download the driver from here -->
Hope this helps.
