Hi,
We have been running Backup Exec 8.6 on W2K for ages and backing up an Oracle database on another W2K server using an Oracle agent. This has been successful until yesterday when we changed the IP address on the server running Backup Exec for NIC-teaming reasons.
Last night the backup failed with 'Unable to attach to Oracle_Server/databasename'.

We back up an Exchange server in the same job using the Exchange agent but this has continued to run without any problems, so I can only guess it is something peculiar to the Oracle agent. I have looked at the Oracle Agent properties on the Oracle server and it is looking for the Media server by name, not by IP address.

If I try to create a new backup job in Backup exec now I don't see the 'Oracle agent' option in the Selections pane.
Do I need to remove and re-install the Oracle agent to correct this, or is there somewhere in the Properties of Backup Exec that I can change the IP address of the Media server?

Any help would be appreciated.

In case anyone has the same problem, I have solved this myself.
On the Oracle server, go to Start/Programs/Veritas Agent for Oracle server configuration utility and click on the General tab.
In the 'configured media servers' box the media server should be listed either by name or IP address. If IP address is shown, obviously this needs to be changed if, like me, you have changed the IP address of your media server.
But our media server was shown by name so the problem was a bit more confusing. I ended up removing the media server from the list and re-adding it. I could then see the Oracle Agents in Selections in BE8.6 on the Media server.
I can only think it was a DNS issue, and the entry on the Media server list on the Oracle server needed to be refreshed to pick up the change from the DNS server.
Hope this helps someone.
