Backup Exec 10 - how to stop a waiting/pending job? 3

Hi there,

BE10 running on W2K3 server.

On & off my daily backup job will be waiting/pending due to tape full, as the server is not arm reachable, when I click canel the job, it always in a 'cancel pending' status.

Wondering what is the correct way to stop a 'backup job in wait of new tape'?

Not sure what the correct way is but the way I do it is to stop the BExec Engine running, this usually does the trick.

Can you tell me, have you had any issues with running BE10 on Win2K3 at all? What kind of throughput do you get on a job?

for mailbox, about 80MB/min
for public folder, about 106MB/min
for information store, about 376MB/min

mind u that my backup tape drive is dlt4000, my backup tape is dlt type 4

yep, stoping BE engine works for me too, but it's rather scary since it took long time to stop...

There shouuld be an Alert in the Alert tab saying something like please insert overwritable media - if you click Cancel it will cancel the job.

WOW, those throughput times are slow. I switched my Exchange 2003 server to new hardware on a Windows 2003 server and was amazed at the TP rates. We also switched to a 160/320 SDLT drive from HP. I get the following

HD 1300/min
Briclevel 350/min
PF 450/min
Store 1500-1900/min

Total backup job of 63GB went from about 12 hours to just over 4 with verify. I like new toys.

Thanks to Ikletinks and justin2000. I run into this problem with BE 8.6 from time to time.
