Hi,

quick question -

I have a NW 4.11 box that I would like doing some periodic backups during the business day. All the jobs usually run after hours but in certain situations I would like to do them during the business day.

I am concerned about a significant performance hit or server instability as a result. Anyone have any experience here or warnings.. Running Backup Exec 8.5...

Thanks.

Any particular reason for this? The main reason (apart from server performance) will be that open files will not get backed up so it might defeat the object of what you are trying to achieve!

As long as you have the open files option of BackupEXEC you might avoid some issues caused by files being open, however in a recent post some people have said that even with open file versions of thier backup software files are still missed.

I have had backups run through the day on a 4.11 server, a ProLiant 3000 and there has been no performance degradation noticed by the 40-odd users.

Hope this is useful.
