Can anybody advise the best method of backing up exchange 2000. I know you cannot back up the M:\ drive because this is the virtual drive. I have been backing up dir.edb and priv.edb. Would this be the best method. Many thanks.

the easiest method is to use NTBACKUP ... this gets upgraded when Exchange 2000 installed, so that it supports the exchange databases. The down side to this is it's limited Tape Devies support ... i.e. no autoloaders.

I currently use Backup Exec 8.6 with the Exchange Agent and all works well. With Backup Exec you do not need to backup the actual EDB and STM and Log files as the Exchange Agent does this for you.

You can use Veritas it has add-ons for backing up E2K files
