I backup the Exchange mailboxes. Do I need to back up the Information Store? What information is in this directory?

Performing regular backups of the Exchange Information Store is an important part of creating a fault-tolerant messaging environment. You should schedule a daily normal (full) backup of the Information Store.

If you are in the NT backup and backup the Information Store, does that automatically backup the mailboxes and all of exchange?

Don't know about NT Backup. Veritas lets you select both mailboxes and store. It also deletes lof files after successfully backed up, which is very important space wise.

By backing up the Information Store you are backing up all the mailboxes but you won't have the option of restoring just one mailbox or email.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

I'm using Veritas 10.0. Thanks for all the input, everything is clear to me now! Have a great day!
