Does anyone have any recommendations on the best way to Backup a NetApp filer with BE9.1??? Obviously I can install the Remote Agent, should I mount a volume to a Windows box & backup it up that way??

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No remote agent, set it up the following way..

1. On the netapp telnet console type in: ndmp off - there is a conflict between Netapps version of NDMP and BE's version.
2. Setup a user defined share via the Netapp's Ip address - do the backup via this.

That should be all you need to do, have set it up a few times without an issue.

Edit.....

Sorry I ment "Obviously I CANNOT install the Remote Agent

Thanks for the reply Justin. Do you know what the throughput is like when backing up without the remote agent?? Does it make much difference speed wise??

I don't think it makes that much of a difference, think I remember a friend doing it at about 400mb/min - but remember speed is environmental.
