Yesterday I upgraded a few of our boxes from 5300-03-00 to 5300-05-03 by using ML5 then ML5 SP3. All but 2 of the boxes worked fine but I had problems with a http and an network dispatcher server. Anyway, after a little while I showed the problems were not down to the upgrades but it got me thinking.....

How would I have gone about removing this upgrade of an ML and patches? I've used installp to remove individual components before but never a full ML.

Thanks.

Cleanest method? restore from the mksysb that you took just before the ML update

or if you committed all fixes before the ML update,
smit reject
and type in ALL where it says software
This is assuming that you applied and did not committ the updates.
If you committed the updates, then restoring from a mksysb is your ONLY option.

Hi

There was a best practices guide issued by IBM at the beginning of last year covering the move to Technology levels and it states that they no longer recommend rejecting whole technology levels.

Here is a link to the document:

See section 7 for methods.
