Hi All,

We are running Arcserve 9 on W2k SP4 we had good speed on our backups until a data replication software was installed on a client server. Now the speed drop from 300+ MB/ minute down to 10MB/MINUTE. We have since uninstalled the replication software and still no luck. I am going to update the NIC driver tonight. Anyone has any thoughts

thanks

A data replication product will normally use a file system level driver to help copy open files - if it either hasn't been removed fully, or you haven't rebooted since removing the product the driver may still be active - try a reboot and see if the performance picks back up.

yes, immediate rebooted after the un-install still no luck. I am actually asking the (Cisco guy) to see if he could monitor the port that the server sits for colision and stuff like that.

You might wanna setup some perfmon traces on the server too.

I have heard a few people mention that they had strange network problems after applying the bunch of windowsupdates just before this last bunch that seemed to reset the speed and duplex to auto-detect - might be unrelated - but worth checking.

I logged the performance of the network interface and the "output queue length" I am thinking about switch port on the switches and see what happens. Will do this on Monday :-D (dont want to get stuck on a friday night)

Oops - when I said perfmon traces on the server - I was meaning more on tagged disk queue or things like memory hogs etc. At least this way you could work out if it really is network - or whether it is disk subsystem related.
