I have a switch that doesn't have BCMS enabled.... I have G3RV5...What will I need to do to have this feature turned on? I want the least cost effective way to get this up and running.
Thanks for your help.

You want the least cost effective way to enable BCMS?

Buy a new phone switch.

The most cost effective way will be to pay Avaya to change the "NO" to "YES" for the field "BCMS (Basic)?" under your system-parameters customer-options (disp sys cust).

I contacted one of the Avaya business partners, and they said that I need to upgrade my switch with call center software to have this feature turned on. Is this correct? I thought that I could just have this feature turned on without upgrading?

If you don't have the ACD software as well, activating BCMS is worthless.

The functions of the ACD software are what BCMS monitors and reports.

So, yes, you'll have to buy both.

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)

Is the ACD software something that is internal to the switch or is it external. Is The ACD feature something that has to be turned on or something uploaded to the switch?

Just about everthing with Avaya is an option that can be turned on. If you want to spend the money for it.

But Yes ACD is a funtion of the switch that can be tuned on.
It all depends on what you need to do as to what funtion you will need to have turned on.

If ACD isn't enabled, then one would have to pose the question, what information is it you are trying to gather from BCMS? If you are trying to get information regarding day-to-day calling, numbers being dialed, calls received by the switch, then you should be focused on the CDR data.

Yep.. anything you try to do on the v5 avaya's gonna wanna "upgrade the software", which is latin for Charge you more money.

I agree with f0netech, if you dont need the ACD function you probably just need to capture the CDR (which is free, or near free)

If you need the ACD function, but dont want to pay AVAYA then you might want to look at a third party ACD switch, ie rockwell, aspect. I dont have any experince with those, and Im sure you will pay for it, you just wont be paying avaya.

Thanks very much for all your help(wonderful techs) I'm opening a very small call center and I need BCMS reports. I thought that we already had purchased it; but we did not. I was unsure as to all the pieces that they would charge me for. I just wanted to know if I wanted 1 turned on that they would not try to charge me for something else that I didn't need. I guess that I have to pay for BCMS and ACD. Thanks again for all your help.
