[b]Access denied when backing up[/b]

I am trying to backup to an HP Colorado II external tape drive. For some reason it won't back up QuarkXpress version 6 files and some JPEG files. The report says that access is denied to/by these files. The help file usefully suggests that I don't have the correct permissions etc. but the tape drive backs up all the other files in the folders. It is really annoying me. It seems rather that the back up just doesn't know what the files are so just ignores them. Any ideas anyone?
