We have just received a Satelite to facilitate wireless connection to Internet; and the technicians are using static addresses for TCP/IP . I wanted the computers to obtain the IP addresses automatixcally and the technicians seem not to know. Is it true wireless connection uses static addresses only ? Nkabirwa Sowed Magezi

That all depends on the network for your service provider. If they have a DHCP server then an IP could be assigned. If they don't then they will assign you a static IP. However (again depending on your network) you may be able to use a router from your end so that it gets assigned the static IP address and then your PC connected to the router could get assigned a different IP address by the router.

This is just a quick synopsis because I am not an expert on this subject and this is a question probably better answered in one of the other forums rather than e-mail. joegz
