Hello,

We've come into possession of an Avaya Wireless IP Phone 3620. Is it possible for us to hook this up to our IPO 406v2 (with VCM 24) ?

I know how to program a typical IP phone, however I don't know how to program this wireless phone.

Any tips are appreciated!

Thanks,
Colby

Also - we don't have a "configuration" cradle for the phone... just a charging cradle.

Is it possible to program the phone from the wireless handset itself?

Hi...

Is an AVPP really required? I was hoping that maybe it wouldn't be... that instead it'd function similar to an IP handset, linking directly to our 406v2 (running 3.2.17)

Thank you for that document!

Colby

it needs accespoints to connect to your IPO
and ofcourse the AVPP

We have access points... but why is the "AVPP" required?

From my understanding it's not required if we were plugging in an IP phone into our network... why is it required for a wireless IP phone?

Thanks!

When you program a phone, it requires the IP Address of the AVPP - people have asked before if there is a way round it (apparantly there was at one point) but you definitely need the AVPP - it does the prioritisation....apparantly!

The Avpp prioritises the voice packets. You also need a VCM module.

We have 2 phones and an AVPP. Customer came from a Partner system, and transtalks. Problem with the 3620, is it wont ring if you either have someon on the line or have someon on hold. Numerous calls to Catalyst, but cant remember if Tier III got involved. Maybe I should play with it.
