Can someone please give me a brief overview of what I need to make the AVAYA Push SDK work? I’ve been to the AVAYA DEVconnect and downloaded article after article. I’ve been working on this for two weeks with no results.

I have one pdf ‘Tutorial for Avaya 4600 and 9600 Series IP Telephones Push and Browser Application Setup. This seems more to be TOMCAT (wed based).

I have another pdf Avaya IP Phone PushSDK Installation Version 2.0 It appears to be JAVA and Tomcat based.

I’m confused as to which one to use.

Which application has worked best for you?

Which OS works better Linux or Windows?

Do I need separate servers for ‘PUSH’ and ‘PULL’?

Any guidance will be very appreciated!!!!

As I understand it, you need to have a location in the settings file that it will periodically check for pushed screens/messages.

Then you designate a web server to be the location it will check for those screens.

I don't know much more than that, though I'm planning something similar here.

As for choices about OS, pick your favorite. It's all the same to the phone.

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)

Thanks for the reply. I'll post back later if I manage to get things going..

I finally got it to work. I was downloading JAVA EE and not SE. Once I got that everything fell into place.

Thats awesome. I've tried and failed to get this to work. you should write up some tips and instructions. I'm sure it would be helpful to many.

I'll sit down tonight and scratch it all out and post back.

G3tech,

I hope you can give some copy of steps of article on how you did it. I am planning to implement that in our system.

THanks in advance.

I'm reloading the OS on my laptop so I can do a clean step by step document. I hope to have it out this afternoon. I'll post back.

Wow that would be great! I tried to get this to work a few months ago and finally gave up.

Ok I've submitted my FAQ under "Avaya Tips and Tricks." I'm not sure if you can see it yet....

Another star for you. Your guide was better then the one written on the dev connect web site. Armed with both guides, I was able to get this up and running in a few hours. Thanks!

newbie question...

I have a server running MV_IP_tel

how will that run with tomcat?..or will it?..or will MV_IP_Tel work instead of tomcat?....

please pardon the ignorance.. I am trying to learn.. I have set up some HTTP basic *.xml stuff... not TOO bad.. and am ready to move forward.

thanks!

Just download and install tomcat. Your MVIPTel server is also running Apache 2.0. I would upgrade that to 2.2. As you can do the "Emergency Push" with Apach 2.2 and PHP 5.

I'm not 100% sure about the php, and apache integration...will give it a try, thanks for your help.

phoneguy55 I'm glad you got it working. The only push update I have is that I enabled my windows xp firewall and punched a hole in it for port 8080...Still works....

I've haven't tinkered with anything else yet. I'm getting ready to upgrade my cm to 5.2....later!!
