After a system patch was applied, Media Server System Update we installed was 10.0.0.28, we discovered that we were getting intermittent audio issues (dead air) when testing announcements. Trace of the station making the call shows the connection to the media server but it's just dead air and never disconnects, so it seems that the media server isn't even "playing" the announcement as it should disconnect after the length of the message if it was actually playing it but there was no audio path.
Numerous testing of media servers that were not patched yet, using the same announcements, would not duplicate the issue. We "resolved" by rebooting the servers, had to do it twice during one upgrade to resolve the issue. So it seems like some thing is hanging after the upgrade (dsp resources, port utilization, process?) and rebooting clears it.
I can't find anything in the Avaya documentation that says a system reboot is required after the system upgrade, so wondering if anyone in the group has experienced this or knows of documentation that says you should reboot after a system patch on these servers, or any document with this as a known issues with the version.
