Avaya IPO blank voicemail messages

I just inherited an avaya IP office system version 8.1(43) with the embedded voicemail (4 channels) and am looking for some help. Users are periodically getting voice mail messages where there is no audio. These messages are typically 8 seconds in length. Any ideas what could cause this or what I should be looking for in the system monitor traces? As I said, this is new territory for me.

I'm also seeing some services alarms that all voicemail channels are in use. Could this cause the blank VM messages?
 
People are hanging up and not leaving a message.
The system is not getting a disconnect notice on your lines.
You need to check your disconnect timers. This is in the line programming section. It could be that you phone line provider is not sending disconnect tone. You will need to do some more testing.
 
Thanks rdoubrava. That makes sense. What should I be seeing in the traces to show that we're receiving a disconnect notice from the phone company?
 
I assuming you have POTS lines.
Find out from the carrier what they have you disconnect timer set to.
 
i have the same issue-- tons of blank messages in embedded voicemail- calls disconnect fine when not in vm but take 10 seconds when embedded vm has control of the call- any suggestions have had ATT on site and they say lines disconnect fine
