Hi everyone
I have two Avaya IP500 linked via SCN (4 channels licensed and VCM card installed both ends). I can initiate calls from site A to B and vice versa but I have one way transmission from site B to A. Transmission A to B is fine. Sites are connected over MPLS.

Have sent configs of to tech support and they confirm they are fine and say it must be a routing issue.

Question 1 : Would it help to set up static routes in each system. If so can you advise what addresses need to be put in the IP route form on each system. ie should the IP address be the address of the other system ?

Question 2 : If static routes wouldnt help how can I test the routing from site B to A is correct, ie what would cause the one way transmission.

Many thanks

Have sent configs of to tech support and they confirm they are fine and say it must be a routing issue.

While a routing issue is highly likely don't discount otehr things like firewalls blocking etc.

I've also seen issues where the EF CAR is insufficient to allow a speech path to be established; (i.e. when you exceed the amount of EF traffic it gets dropped by the MPLS carrier). I'd check with the carrier (or change the marking on switch to AF31 as a test)

I can initiate calls from site A to B and vice versa

This indicates that the routing between the units at A and B is correct in both directions.

What sort of handsets are you using? I suspect that the issue is only seen on IP stations.

if this is true, then you need to investigate how the network that the handsets are in routes to the other side.

I'd assume that you have doena traceroute from a PC on a to a PC on B...

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
