Avaya IP500 Bare Equipment Test?

We had a IP500 unit that's power supply suddenly failed on us a few weeks ago. We were able to procure two replacement units, one for immediate usage and the other as a spare. The original spare we bought failed the moment we plugged it in to see if it worked (lights came on then immediately went off). Now we got a replacement for the spare but are wondering if there's any effective way to make sure it's working without the programming card or slots filled. Currently it powers on and both the lights on the back are flashing amber. Wondering if there's anything we can do to make sure this unit would work properly if we need to use it without taking-down our production unit.

Thanks!

What about a serial cable to actually see if the unit is booting and is not giving errors.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I would get a spare SD card, and a spare combo card. That way you will always have a spare test set.

@tlpeter - is there an application for that or maybe just use a serial logger to see what data it's spitting out? I imagine if i use a serial logger I'm just gonna see hex data

Also this unit does not appear to have an SD card slot, just a CF slot.

You've got an ipo v1. Existing combo cards probably not compatible.
Need a v1 key for it to function. It's almost like having two seperate systems not related. I can't suggest that you get a business partner in but it's not end user swappable with this hardware and licensing format.

If you are an Avaya business partner then order a demo kit.
Then you have all licenses you need (for free updated) and you will have the latest equiptment.
For the serial stuff you need a serial cable and a tool to read it out like hyperterminal.

I would check your cards then. Seen a dead card bring a whole system down many times.

not arrogant, just succinct.

There was literally nothing plugged in to the switch, no combo cards, feature cards, nothing. Fortunately the vendor we bought it from replaced it no questions asked.
