Hi

Have a remote user connected to UK office via IPsec VPN, using netgear VPN router FVS114 .

Now, all hardware on remote LAN can connect to UK office sucessfully, except the Avaya IP phone 4602SW.

Phone keeps displaying dicovering 192.168.0.4. I can ping the PBX (192.168.0.4) at the office from the remote network. The config on the phone is correct.

FYG, I have another Avaya IP phone on another VPN, works fine, and configured in similar way, different router though.

I have checked for days, firewall settings, VPN settings and connect pin point problem.

setup of network;

remote phone ip: 192.168.6.4
remote subnet: 192.168.6.0 / 24
Remote Gateway/Router IP: 192.168.6.1
|
public facing IP of remote office: 89.??.??.??.??

|
public facing IP of office: 195.??.??.??.??

|
office Gateway/Router 192.168.0.1

|
PBX : 192.168.0.4
Office IP

IP Manager config: Extension 290 - IP Address 192.168.6.1

Please help.

From PC on remote office I can ping IPO (192.168.0.15)

On this IPO server, I ran Avaya monitoring, and it appears to IP phone is sending packets, but cannot decode;

It sounds like a router problem. Are you running latest OS on Netgear? If not, upgrade.

Is the Gatekeeper enabled on that LAN port. Look at the settings in system.

I assume you have setup the 4602 statically. What details did you put in
IP Address
Call Server
File Server
Subnet
Gateway
etc

Also, you don't need to specify the IP address of the phone in Manager and I would suggest forcing the CODEC you want to use rather then leaving it on Automatic Selection.

If you are using over VPN I would suggest G729.

Removed the IP from the extension and changed compression.

Added the static route into IP Manager

If you remove the IP from the extension, how does the system associate the phone to extension?

i have rebooted the PBX and the monitoring program is still showing the decode error.

FYG, here is the phone config

Ip: 192.168.6.4
CallSrv: 192.168.0.4
Port: 1719
Router 192.168.6.1
Fileserver: 192.168.0.15
802.iq = auto
vlan = 0

Do you have VCM's in your system??

It associates by the extn number you tap into the phone when it starts

I had to throw in the towel on this.

Instead I replicated the same environment from my home, using a different router, and phone worked first time.

I can only out is down to a limitation of the netgear router, unless someone else can prove me wrong otherwise.
