I need help as AVAYA wants to charge a large sun of money for after hours support.

We lost power to our building in our data center. We brought all systems back up except for AVAYA as it still has issues. Our AVAYA IP Office systems is acting odd. When we call from our or to our main building that lost power the caller at our other office cannot hear us or any other caller at all, they can see who is calling on the phone, but they cannot hear us at all. We can hear them perfectly fine.

What is the problem causing this!!! Need help!!!

Sounds like a routing problem
Turn everything down include the VPN connection to the other building.
Power up the VPN router.
Power up the modules.
Then power up the IP Office.

Perhaps handy to know what kind of IP Office you have.

We do not have a VPN form the remote office. It is a Verizon MPLS network. At our main office where we lost power it is an AVAYA IP Office. We have a remote office connected via the MPLS network so there is no VPN. The remote office has a IP Office digital station.

The remote office can not hear me but I can hear them clearly. As far as we know only the main office lost power.

So you have two IP Offices on two different locations.
Perhaps the VCM card is broken on the site that had a power outage.

Could the port the IP Office is plugged into on my switch at the main office be causing the issue?

When I call inter office where we lost power it is fine, calls have no issues.

It is strictly all calls coming from the main office (where we lost power) going to the remote office.

When they call out bound from the remote office it is fine, but that should be due to the system calling out on POTs lines from that remote office.

Hokie97VT, you need to give us some more info, like IP routes in the system(s), system IP's, gateway addresses also a monitor trace would be handy, if you have no access to the system using the Manager or Monitor programmes then there is not much hope of fixing this without putting your hand in your pocket, after all that is what Maintenance contracts are for :)

Since power outage have you rebooted the main IP office??? it sounds like you IP trunk lost sync or vmc went bad..

I wonder if you have your interface set to DHCP client?

has the IP address of the unit changed

Is there an IP conflict?

I'd reckon this is something like that...

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

One way speech = routing problem.
Disable "direct media path" on the ip trunks.
Or spend some money and call a qualified engineer, either from Avaya or a local vendor.

Our firewall at our main office where the power went out is blocking email coming into our exchange server, could that be the culprit with the phones?

We have rebooted several times. The VM Manger can get to the switch via the IP Address it is assigned so I assume that the IP is still the same.

If it is blocking email then yes the router is the problem.
