Hi all

A newbie here

Got a quetion re above. I have thiss working on the iPad but it is showing not any presence. The message I get is:

"Unable to connect to one-X Portal server. Personal and system contacts, Presenc and IM will be unavailable."

Can anyone help me with this?

You need to leave the presence server open i think.
Or put in the IPO's IP address but certainly not the One-X Portal server IP address.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Tried that but it dos not work.

I have completed the setting bar the "Enterprise Search" bits. do i need to complete them?

No ,you only need to set the ipo's IP address and the user credentials i think.
I did one last week but i used the manual because i had the same problem.
I was very busy with something else so it did not stay in my memory :)

Anyone with any other ideas?

Read the manual, that is the best idea :)
I can do it for you but then you have nothing to look back at when you have the same issue again.

We've got exactly the same problem. Keep getting the error "unable to connect to One-X Portal Server. Personal contacts, presence and IM will be unavailable".

In the server address i've put the IP address of the IPO, port 5060, domain is the IP of the IPO and the presence server is the IP of the One-X portal server. I've followed the installation instructions to the letter.

To those who say that the presence server IP is not required

I've had it working once for 5 minutes!

I hope this is not another of Avaya's half-baked software packages that promises so much and delivers so little. Phone Manager was great years ago. Now it's buggy as hell and discontinued. One-X Portal is awful and so unreliable. And now comes along Flare Communicator that doesn't work either reliably.

You really only need to enter the IPO ipaddress and the domain ipaddress which is the same.
When you create a new user then keep in mind that it can take up to 5 minutes before this is synced with the 1XP server!!!

Thanks tlpeter but the server has been up for days and we've been trying between us to make it work off and on for hours. We've tried putting the IP of the one-x portal server in the Presence box and leaving it blank too.

We are using the Avaya Application Server (one-x Portal Server) based on CentOS - dont know if that makes a difference. The server has dual quad-core Xeon CPU's and 4GB RAM.

The user i'm trying to log in with is me and I have an analogue extension that's been there for quite some time. It isn't a new user.

I can make calls with Flare fine - it's just the IM and Presence stuff that doesn't work and pops up with the "unable to connect to One-X Portal Server. Personal contacts, presence and IM will be unavailable" error.

The weird thing is i've had it working once for 3-5 minutes before it stopped working.

Remove the user and wait 10 minutes.
Then recreate the user and wait again 10 minutes.
Then try again.

I was determined to fix this!!!

I've now got it working! I completed reinstalled the Application Server and started again. Everything now seems to be working i.e. IM, Personal Contacts, etc - and faster too. Something was clearly wrong somewhere.

It looks like that :)

I also have this issue and had been ongoing, as many have followed flare documents with little to no success.

I ran into this and Avaya told me that you have to log into the One-X portal web interface first. I did that, and sure enough the error went away. I asked where that was mentioned in the docs and heard crickets chirping.

That wasn't very clear - you have to log into One-X portal web interface as that user before trying to log into the Flare client as that user.

It worked for me but YMMV.

Hello Biv343, I've logged into one x portal deleted and recreated the user, re-logged in still same issue. Thanks for the info.
