Need some advice please,

I'm going to program a 4 digit non DID extension on a Viking unit to open a gate. Only a few will have a need for this extension so I don't want it easily guessed or triggered my mistake.

Is there a way of securing it by adding a special code?

If I remember correctly, Can't the Viking also use a CO trunk port in the "loop start" mode...if you have a trunk port available you could use a TAC instead of a ext. number by making a "trunk group"...odd's of someone guessing that are pretty slim...

Hi Bob (wellco9530)

That an interesting approach and I do have spare CO ports.

This gate need to be triggered from any phone in the building as long as they have the correct numbers.. My TACs are all 3 digit long, I was hoping for a longer sequence than that, and something that could be changed every now and then also....

Thanks for you interest, and time.

You can also use Class of Restriction (COR) to limit who can call that extension.

Thanks Kevin,

I was hoping to be able to dial a special code, then enter the Viking extension to open the gate.
That way only a few people would be able to do it and the "special" code could be changed easily rather than the Viking extension..

I'm still going to try using a TAC and see how that works..
