tek-tips forum,

Equipment:
Avaya IP Office 500 v2
Combo Card model 700476013
Avaya B149 Analog Conference Phone

- Can someone tell me the likelihood that I've fried the B149, and whether Walmart is hiring in the NY-metro area? ;-)

- Are the analog ports (7 and 8) plug and play ready for analog equipment, or is there some setup needed through the Avaya remote management software?

I plugged in an Avaya B149 conference phone into a digital port (5410 desktop phone previously used on that port) on an Avaya combo card (model 700476013). When I turned on the B149, it chimed it's startup tune, then displayed the message, "Analog Overcurrent."

I then tried plugging it into ports 7 and 8 (analog ports, if I'm not mistaken) directly into the combo card (700476013), only to receive the same "Analog Overcurrent" message.

Thank you,

Yes, those are just plain ready to go analogue ports. Yes, you may well have fried the phone, a digital port fried my wire mapper/cable tester not long back :)

analog overcurrent" wow.....well, if Walmart isn't hiring I'm sure there is a Target or a Walgreens close by ;)

I'm going to make a correction, and report what followed.

The correction is that I tried the B149 analog conference phone on port 7 and not both ports 7 and 8 (of the second slot/module). I still had port 8 on slot 2, and ports 7 and 8 on slot 1 that had not been tested.

When I connected the B149 to port 8, slot 2, to my surprise the phone performed without an "analog over-current" error, successfully placed outgoing calls and accepted incoming calls. In addition, I tried it on port 7, slot 2, and received the "analog over-current" error. Moved it back to port 8, slot 2 and no errors, incoming and outgoing calls up and running.

Thank you,
