I've got 5 or 6 Avaya 9640 IP phones that are in a continuous boot loop. There is no place that will allow me to type the reset sequence in (mute craft #). When I plug them in, they come up with Avaya One X and load there for a minute or so, then go to another color Avaya One X screen and load there for about 20 seconds then redo it all over again. There is never any * to program, and if I enter the reset sequence stated above nothing happens. Not sure if there is anything I can do to wipe these phones clean? Any help is appreciated.

The phones are locked which has been set with the settings file once and can only be unlocked with a settings file.
You'll have to find out which ip settings are stored in the phone, connect the phone to a poe brick and connect the lan to your laptop use wireshark to capture the ip packets from the phone.
Then you can find the settings, recreate the network it is expecting and provide it a settings file with the right settings for unlocking.

If it ain't dutch it ain't much

So i've connected the phone as you suggested but I'm not getting any IP info. I can see where its sending a broadcast request to find the DHCP info, but the source IP info is blank. I can see the mac of the phone requesting DHCP but no details are given. I should also note that when the phone is plugged into the power brick I am able to access the settings by pressing * to change settings and entering craft. However, even if I enter the settings statically, disconnect the phone and attempt to hook it up to the switch off the IP office I still get the boot loop with no option to change the settings. Any other help is appreciated.

The source ip info will be blank as it has no IP, that's why it's requesting an IP address :-)
