Avaya 9608 - cannot access CRAFT menu to reset phone

I want to reset a bunch of 9608 phones but seem to be having trouble accessing the CRAFT menu. When the phone boots up it shows VLAN ID=xxx and * to program. When I hit * to program, it says Enter Code and #=OK. When I type 27238 (CRAFT) and # the phone says restarting and we're back to square one again. The VLAN ID is showing as the wrong VLAN and after 60 seconds of trying to find a DHCP address it says Discover 10.10.10.50. Clearly the VLAN is wrong.

Is there another way of resetting the phone back to defaults? We are using a IP Office 500 v2 and DHCP to set up the phone.

did you try only #, i.e. no password
If it fails you need the phones to load a new settings file with a known password defined in it
