Hi - I'm trying to get an analog adjunct extension on 8411d to ring at same time as the digital 8411 extension it's attached to.

I can configure the 8411 as extension 202 and the analog as extension (analog) 201 and they will be able to make and accept calls but when I try to put them in to a destination extension group (200) I get a 'extension exists but can't be added to extension group' error.

Any ideas?

Did you try adding both ext. numbers to a "term ext" group?

Thanks for reply Bob but I have tried term ext group and the same error occurs: "Extension assigned but wrong type for group".

are you sure that 200 is not in use as something else.

if you do "li hun" is 200 a valid group number that is not a skill?

Hardware platform? Definity / CM software version?

Are the two phones in the same room?

You know those ole 8411d's the analog port on them was designed to be a modem port...I'm wondering if you do a "list data" if for some dumb reason it assigned it there as a data port? At least do a "list ext" and see what type it shows up as..that will give you a clue as to why it won't let you assign it into the group...

Hi there, thanks for the replies, in order:

Montyzummer- no it's not in use as anything else, it's very bare data set up with no fancy features used,

I can put 'normal' 8410/8402 in the dest ext group.

AvayaTier3 - HW platform are all about R6/R7, no CM, just a Definity shelf and cards. The 8411 and adjunct are in the same room, the analog adjunct is to be used to operate an external alarm contact to bring in extra ringing indicators. I can't use a separate ringer because cost of running extra line would be too high.

Wellco9530 - it shows up as a data port, when you list it. Trying to change it as a dataport just gets an error message to access it through the 8411 data admin screens.

I'm able to assign it into a hunt group though, which has given me a glimmer of hope as I can then put it into a coverage list...

have tried bridging, destination extension group, incoming coverage answer group, can't seem to get anything to make both phones ring at once.
only resource that seems to accept this 'special' extension is the hunt group.

Just for reference for anyone else with same problem the analogue phone goes on as a data terminal, so it can't be used with destination answer group or terminal extension group.

I put it into a hunt group on it's own then used the hunt group in a coverage group, which I then assigned to the digital 8411 on no answer after a few rings.

Now it rings on the 8411 then rings on the analogue port to which I've attached a very small analogue terminal (which is mounted on the same console as the 8411) and also the remote alarm.

Everyone happy with that but it's not an elegant solution....

Thanks for the update on how you were able to solve your problem.....
