Hello all,

I'm a bit confused with the 46xxsettings file when it comes to setting up the screensaver and background image for the 96xx phones - specifically the 9640G.

I have used the Avaya one-X Deskphone USB Companion tool to resize the photo to the appropriate size, and I set the settings up, but nothing appears to be working.

The file is accessable through HTTP on my internal server, so there shouldn't be an issue of the phones downloading it.

I see the screensaver needs to be my_screen.wml, but I don't know where that is located.

At this point I'm at a loss. Can anyone offer some help?

Thanks!

If you're running 3.0 - go to the following section and edit accordingly:

################ AVAYA SCREEN SAVER SETTINGS ###################
##
## Idle time before the Avaya Screen Saver is activated (minutes).
## Number of minutes without phone activity to wait
## before the screen saver is activated. A value of 0 means
## the screen saver is never activated. The default is 240 minutes.
## This parameter does not apply to 16cc SIP phones.
##
## Note:
## This setting activates the Avaya Screen Saver which is
## different than the "idle screen" accessed by WMLIDLEURI.
## While it is possible to use WMLIDLEURI as an "idle
## screen", it is recommended that the SCREENSAVERON
## timer and the Avaya Screen Saver display be used for
## screen saver purposes.
##
SET SCREENSAVERON 30
##
## The filename of a valid JPEG customized screen saver image.
## 0-32 ASCII characters.
## Note: This parameter is supported on H.323 and R2.2
## release of SIP telephones.
##
SET SCREENSAVER logo.jpg (this is where you will put the filename of your image you want to display) I put logo.jpg as an example.

When the phone boots, just confirm your getting the .jpg file...

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
CJH

Background images are different than the screen saver settings.

You have to load them onto the 9640 through a USB flash memory. You will need at least version 3.0 to set different wallpaper for your phone.

Okay, I think I may have found what my problem was. These phones had old firmware on them. I've upgraded them, and my screen saver now works.

2 more questions

1) If we wanted to change the screen saver file, do the phones need to be rebooted?
2) Is there a piece of software that will "push" text notifications to these phones (such as early close, or disasters and to evacuate)?

Thanks!
