I get "can't find auxiliary dictionary [55]" message when spell-checking a document created from templates originated on another machine. Route to dictionary works when opening new doc. Does template retain links to old dictionary on other machine?

In your case, QuarkXPress cannot locate the auxillary diactionary or it has been deleted. You will have to create a new auxillary dictionary and use it.

You are facing this problem because either the default dictionary in the QuarkXPress folder has been deleted or it has become corrupt. You can create a new dictionary on your own but that'd be a lengthy procedure to follow. The easiest way would be :

1) Uninstall QuarkXPress.
2) Reinstall QuarkXPress (it would intall your default US dictionary in your QuarkXPress Folder).
3) Run QuarkXPress.

Mr Techno.

I'm not sure you would need to go to the trouble of reinstalling all of Quark. You might look on the installation disk for the default dictionary, if it is the one that's missing.

On the other hand, if it is an AUXILLIARY dictionary missing, you could just live without it, or rebuild it by making a new auxilliary dictionary then running spellcheck and accepting all the unfamiliar words it finds. (Be sure the words ARE correctly spelled first, of course.)
