I've just installed a CICS 4.2 and there is an existing Bogen Paging system 2 horns in the shop.

I want the phone to ring off these horns.
1. Can I just punch down my Bogen wire on the Aux. Ringer pair 25 off my Set Amphonol cable?
2. Do I need an auxilary unit installed for the ring to go through and punched on my Aux Ringer pair?
3. I noticed the system has Pair 23 External Paging and pair 25 paging off my Trunk Amphonol, what is the difference, they both seem to work when I punch down the Bogen wire on it?

Aux. ringer gives you a closure relay when a trunk or station is programmed as so.

There a Page output and a Page relay, some amplifiers have a precedence input to cut off lets say you had BGM over the speakers this relay cuts off the other inputs while you page then goes back when you finish paging.

You can buy a night ringer that is triggered by the Aux ringer relay and use the output of the ringer as an input in the amplifier.

Some amplifiers have some or all of these features built in.

I noticed the night ringer on the Bogen, It does work I tested it out, strange I used a pair of plyers to touch the night ringer screw to a screw next to it on the Bogen, thus producing the tone on the horn. The question becomes how to wire this, I have my T/R going to my pager port, if I move it to the Aux port no sound. Do I have to run another pair from the night ringer to the aux port of my CICS? If so, do I have to have one wire on GND and the other on Night Ringer?

Small detials trying to figure out

Each function has its own pair: PAGING AUDIO 1 PAIR, RELAY CONTROL 1 PAIR, RINGER CONTROL 1 PAIR! If you read the documentation, look at the wiring diagram, and understand the circuit functions, it will be self evident!

Otherwise get someone that knows what they are doing!

Hey Syquest, I'm quite good at figuring things out, self thought Norstar and BCM installer but have to say, paging need to bounce some ideas around, auxilary ringer, first time required to install so I do rely on bouncing ideas of you guys, and appreciate the help.

Next thing on my todo list, find the manual and take if from there.

Last question, they want that horn to ring night mode only, I have set a few night mode in the past, always tricking. How do I treat auxilary ringer in night mode

That really depends on how you're triggering the Aux Ringer.

If you've configured a set for Aux Ringer, configuring Ringing Service with only that phone in the ring group then manually activate using a button on a set.
