I have a problem with Autotext entries in Word 2002 SP2, (Windows 2000 SP4) when I go into a document and create autotext entries these are not saved to the normal.dot template, so when I create a new document and try to use the autotext entries they are not listed in the autotext menu.

I have tried creating a new normal.dot template and also re-installing office but this has not made a difference. I have also re-created the user profile on the PC, this has no effect either.

Any ideas?

There could be 3 possible reasons for this:
1. Make sure that you are saving the new AutoText entries in the Normal.dot template. Always use 'Save All', so that after the changes 'Normal.dot' is saved automatically.
2. There are some cases with Word 2002 and Outlook open at same time with Outlook is set to use Word as the e-mail editor. The solution is to restart the system, open word, carry-out Autotext entries, Save All, now you can start Outlook, so no problems for autotext.
3. Still if you face problems, that may be because of Adobe Acrobat 7 installation. This usses COM module instead of a traditional add-in template. It continually clears the "dirty" flag for the Normal.dot file. This means that as far as Word is concerned, there are never any changes to Normal.dot that need to be saved. Thus, when you exit Word, any changes you've made including any new AutoText entries are discarded. This problem is there with Word 2002/2003 with Adobe Acrobat 7.
To solve this problem with Acrobat, update your system to new version of acrobat. If not possible then you need to modify the registry as described at the bottom of this page.

Thanks for the info it has worked!

Installing the updates to Adobe Acrobat 7.0.0 has fixed the problem. You have to have the 7.0.5, 7.0.7 updates installed before you can install the 7.0.8 update. The best way to do this is via the update option in Adobe. (Be warned that the PC has to reboot after installing each update)

It's my pleasure...
