Hi, not sure if here is the right place for it but I'm sure someone'll put me right if it's not... :)

I produce music using my PC for sequencing and recently have lost quite a bit of work due to 'forgetting' to hit ctrl-s before occassional lockups/crashes.

Unfortunately my sequencer (E-magic Logic 5.5) doesn't have an autosave feature so I was thinking of trying to create one somehow. My limited knowledge of VB led me to the (seemingly clunky) solution of some sort of batch file that was run by task scheduler periodically.

One of the problems with the sequencer is that it utilizes a lot of VST standard plugins and sub-windows that tend to be active for more time than the main program window (which contains the main menu bar/save options) I'll have to try and see if the ctrl-s works with a plugin window active otherwise the solution'll need to switch active window, ctrl-s,switch back. This may cause funny behaviour if i'm part way thru changing synth parameters but that's to be discovered. Currently the ctrl-s doesn't interfere with the running program at all, even if it's playing back and working very hard.

I hope someone may be able to at least start me in the right direction to accomplish this.

Many thanks :)

Another option would be to write a simple application that sends the Ctrl-S combination to the correct window based on its handle. You say you have some knowledge of VB and if you want i will happily point you in the right direction.

Yes please Greg, my knowledge is pretty limited to be honest, just the odd VBA macro in some applications.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Take a look at the files contained in and it should point you in the right direction. If you need any further assitance you will find a help file enclosed.
