Can anyone help me figure out how to make a button that will automatically compress and backup my entire database?

I appreciate any help!

To my knowledge (and I do not claim to know it all) you must exit the database to perform a back up. That being said Im not sure where you want to put the button. The compact part can be done with a macro.

I use a freeware program that you may be interested that performs scheduled maintenence activities (compacts back ups etc.) YOu can download it from this site ...

Basicly you create a "job" using a wizard in the program and then you can schedule recurring execution. In addition you can run the job with a click of a button at any time. I like it because you can schedule the activities for off hours and it keeps an event log.
