Does anyone know how to insert consecutive numbering within the same page? For example I have a page that has 4 text boxes each numbered 1-4, next page need to continue 5-9, and so on until I reach 500 (125 pages).

I tried page numbering <#> but when I insert page numbering in the master page, it gives me the same numer for all 4 labels as a result.

Can anyone help?

Probably the easiest way to do this, if your printer has the option, is to create a document the size of one text box and use <#> page numbering. In the Print dialog box, press 'Printer...', select 'Layout', and see if there is an option to print 4 pages per sheet.

The only other way I can think of right now would involve using XTensions, Scripts, or some sort of add-on. The imposition software I use in work has this capability, but it only works on our press.

How about linked text boxes and an external text file?

1) On your master page, make the 4 text boxes for the numbers and link them in order. Leave only enough room for 1 line of text in the style you have chosen (set your biggest number, then duplicate, clear out the text, and link.) Don't forget to link FROM the chain icon in the corner TO your first box.

2) In Word or some other word processing program, generate a list of numbers separated by returns. (Hint: Excel can generate an automatic list; type your first two or three numbers, then drag down to fill. Row lines will tell you when to stop. Save as text, return separated.)

3) On your first document page, import your text file, letting each paragraph flow to the next text box.

4) Sit back and pat yourself on the back for a job well done in record time.

Hope this helps
George
