I am building an index. If you look at a generic dictionary, you will see that the header is composed of the first 3 letters of the first 'dictionary occurence' of the page followed by an hypen followed by the firs 3 letters of the last 'dictionary occurence' of the page.
I have to do this for hundreds of page.
Is there a tool to do this automatically?
Yhank you in advance, Silvio.

you can place a textbox (in area where you want to repeat)in the master pages, then just sete the letters manually in your layout.

You can only do auto page numbers

Or if you have the Xdata extension, you can set up to pull from the info on the page.

Xdata runs about 400 usd, but great for many things.

Or, as steven290 says - set up the master page and put it in manually.
