How do you automatically login on a Linux Redhat 7.3 as root?
I am using VNC to access my linux box and I have no keyboard\mouse\monitor on the box. I can't connect as VNC client unless I'm login on the linux box!

Any help would be appreciated....

If the box is running VNC the process should be running under the system and nobody should need to be logged in.

Thx for your reply
There is a lot of sommon sense in your explanation....
But meanwhile, I have add a '--autologin root' parameter in the /etc/inittab file and now the linux box won't boot. The error is

/sbin/mingetty: unrecognized option '--autologin' (10x)
Init: Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

Can u help...??

Hi all,

Is there a kind of safe mode to which I can boot in for me to revert back to my old inittab file.

Any suggestions welcome......
