Automatic app launcher

Hello all,
I need to conduct a benchmarking test across LAN/WAn infrastructure. We have been asked to repeatedly record the response time of various applications as they perform the same task several times a day.

Does anyone know any automation software that can both launch, manipulate and log the output of outlook, IE etc?

Googling "benchmarking software" returns 417K + hits.
Maybe some of them will work for you, in conjunction with Task Sheduler?
